MSA Job Description

KS2 (Maternity Cover) Teacher

Excellent KS2 Teacher (Maternity Cover) required for a mixed age class (Year’s 3-6)) from mid October 2019 to cover an approx. 9 month maternity leave. Regretably we feel this post is not suitable for an NQT, and please note the maximum pay will be MS6

Situated in the beautiful village of Hovingham, in a grade 2 listed building, the school is at the centre of our rural community. This post offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher to come and join our team. As part of the Hovingham and St Hilda’s Federation and more widely the Esk Valley Teaching Alliance we can offer a strong commitment to supporting your further professional development.

Please visit our school websites to get a flavour of who we are, and visits to school are always encouraged. We are looking for someone with energy, creativity, high expectations and a passion for teaching. Our school is a welcoming, inclusive community which works hard to ensure that all children reach their potential.
Would you rise to the challenge of:
  • Delivering excellent lessons to individual groups and classes based upon sound curriculum knowledge • Identify and address gaps in children’s learning
  • Understand the impact of the learning environment upon children and staff
  • Monitor children’s progress, assess their achievement, record results and make accurate observations
  • Have a ‘can do’ mentality with a desire to overcome any challenges that arise
  • Be a team player with good communication and inter-personal skills
  • Have good organisational and time management skills • Embrace change and be willing to be flexible
  • Most importantly, be committed to professional development and have high expectations of your own practice
  • Be prepared to support the Christian ethos of our school.
For an informal chat with the headteacher prior to your application, or to make an appointment to visit the school please contact the school office. Applications should be returned to Heather Leggett, School Business Manager by Thursday 6th June. Please email where possible

Supply Teachers

Hovingham & St Hilda’s Ampleforth Primary Schools Federation are looking to expand their pool of supply teachers, as we prefer to employ local teachers who are known to us and our pupils rather than relying on an agency.  We are therefore looking for experienced teachers who are available for both short notice supply and planned cover to work at either school.  Both schools have mixed age classes, and St Hilda’s includes a Nursery.

We cannot guarantee regular employment, but always offer work to our local network before looking elsewhere.  As with all other schools in the area we do not pay above MS6 for supply work.

Return your completed application form to Heather Leggett, School Business Manager,  by Tuesday 19th March.
