Extra Curricular Activities

Throughout the academic year we run a variety of lunchtime and after school activities.  Some of these are run by staff, some by parent volunteers and some by private organisations.  Where there are costs involved we ask that these are paid in full and up front, for the benefit of all involved.  At present we are able to offer students –

  • After School Green Gang
  • After School Sports Club
  • Lunchtime Choir Club
  • Nursery Lunch Club
  • After School River Rangers – for four weeks from 2nd March
  • After School Lego Club – for six weeks from 27th February

Nursery Lunch Club

We are pleased to be able to offer a Nursery Lunch Club for those children who would like to stay.  It will run from 12:00 midday to 1:00pm every day at a cost of £3.40 per child per day.  This includes the cost of a freshly cooked meal, served in the school hall and supervision for the hour.

It will be necessary to inform the class teacher each morning if your child is staying for lunch, so that they can notify the kitchen of exact numbers.  Please ensure that payment is made promptly each week, or half termly in advance to the school office.

Wednesday 17th October – Apple Stall

Well done to our Green Gang who raised £32 at their apple stall.  I was very proud of them.  Thanks also to everybody who supported them.

Green Gang Club – Spring 2018

Green Gang has got off to a great start.  We have made bird food for our lovely bird table which has been kindly made for us by Henry Lealman.  The birds are loving it!  We have also made some fantastic bird boxes which we will place around the school grounds and hopefully the birds will use these.  In the next few weeks we are going to start planting seeds and working towards our ‘Platinum Green Tree’ school award.

Green Gang Club – Summer 2017

Green Gang starts again on Wednesday 26th April from 3:30-4:25pm with Mrs Lealman.

Green Gang Club – Autumn Term 2016

After School Green Gang will be starting on Wednesday 14th September from 3:30pm-4:30pm with Mrs Lealman.  The Green Gang will continue their work around the school and work towards their first Eco Award.

Green Gang Club – Summer Term 2016

Well Green Gang has got off to a great start for the summer.  We have been talking lots about what we need to do to gain the Eco school award.  We are currently getting a committee together.  Please get in touch if you would like to join.  We are proud to have gained our Bronze Green Tree School Award.  We are recycling paper, ink cartridges, reducing our Co2 by switching off lights, closing doors and turning computers off.  We have applied for trees to plant on the school ground too.  So we are now working hard towards our Silver Award.

We have made a great hide in the woodland area, as we are looking forward to doing some bird watching from it.  We made some faces using sticks and other natural items from the school grounds.  We have made a start at weeding our flower beds and planting carrots for making carrot cake later in the year – which I’m sure they will share!

Green Gang Club – Autumn Term 2015

We have had a fantastic start to Green Gang this year. We started in September 2014 with just 4 children and now only one year on we have 9 – over 50% of our pupils in the gang, which we are very proud of!

What have we been doing? Well…..

We have grown vegetables and made soup and beetroot & chocolate cake.

Followed the RSBP Big Garden Birdwatch
Kept the school gardens tidy
Made T-shirts (or as we like to call them ‘Tree Shirts’) with leaf prints
Made bird food cakes and watched with excitement the birds eating them
Took part in ‘The Big Draw’ and drew natural objects, trees and wildlife.
We have plans in place to obtain a Bronze Eco-schools Award. We are hoping to achieve this by end of summer.
Also, we are working towards The Woodland Trust – Green Tree Award.

We end each term with a ‘party night’ and this term we are all looking forward to building dens and getting the kelly kettle out in the wooded area and enjoying a cup of hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows!

In the Spring/Summer term we will continue to keep the school grounds tidy, so we can be extra proud of the way our school looks. We are also hoping to spend more time in the wooded area doing activities along the lines of forest schools.
